The white safehouse is no longer white. Darkness is staining it, devouring it. The Great Power is feeding.
"And so the time has come." says Forli in a deep voice. No one was aware of his presence until he spoke, yet no one was startled. They are past that by now. Way too past that. "The time to make our move has arrived."
"Will you fight it?" a gambler asked. What a naive thing to ask.
"You cannot fight The Great Power. If it was possible, we wouldn't be hiding in this place, the biggest source of light known and therefore the only thing that can stall The Power. No, the only thing we can do is running away."
"But... you mentioned this was our last hiding place!"
"I also mentioned we had a plan. You have just unlocked the door to another hiding spot. Thousands of years ago, this game was played in our Universe. You probably remember the first half of it, maybe even more. Back then, the game was completed the same way it started: there were explosions, pirate ships and orgies everywhere. However, there was no winner. And something during the game made everything go wrong: it created the anomaly that eventually consumed our world."
Forli paused for a second to look at the black anti-matter consuming their surroundings.
"We don't know exactly what caused it, but we know it was our mistake. And the same scenario followed in every other universe containing alternate realities. They all lead to that breaking point and even though some circumstances had minor differences, the outcome is the same: annihilation. The same pattern repeated in every Universe... except in one. We don't know what's different in that reality, but it's obvious that hiding there is our last hope. We have extracted you from a previous point in our timeline to emulate the key event, On a Roll, from the moment the mistake happened onward, following the moves of this surviving Universe. You have all being indoctrinated to follow them. And by following them, we are opening a gate to that moment in the timeline in this safe universe. We will merge ourselves with it by finishing this game."
"Okay. I didn't read any of that. Can we get the results now please?"
"Yes. Yes, you can. Let's see... Kokuryu (invalid vote, translated to 0) restricted ShadowFire (didn't vote)... Iain7 (voted 0) restricted Kokuryu and 10k (voted 0 as well)... Morte was left unrestricted and voted 40, meaning 40 is the total votes. Divided by six gets you 36, with a remainder of 4 and therefore Iain7 scores another p-"
"Wait." says a gambler, interrupting Forli. This time, everyone is startled. You could say it was something even more unexpected than Forli's sudden apparitions. It was MarkQuestion. "I also casted a vote."
The Dealer stops for a second and verifies his numbers again.
"You are correct. My apologies. MarkQuestion has casted a vote of... one. Meaning the remainder is 5, not 4. Therefore, this round goes for him. Well played."
Mark nods and sits down again, assuming his drooling possition as if nothing had ever happened.
Celestial scoreboard update:
0. ShadowFire (2 + 1 + 4) – 0 points
1. 10k (1 + 1 + 3) – 0 points
2. Morte (2 + 1 + 3) – 0 points
3. Kokuryu (1 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 3) – 0 points
4. Iain7 (2 + 1 + 6 gold chips) – 6 points
5. MarkQuestion (7 + 2 + 1 + 2 gold chip) – 2 points
Now that business is concluded, Forli vanishes again. Gamblers are too busy looking at MarkQuestion to notice him leaving. What they don't know is that they won't see him ever again.
On a Roll will end in 48 hours. Be sure to cast your votes for this Multiverse integrity related round.
